We visited the Imperial Palace grounds in the morning. Although we could not go inside, we walked around the East Gardens. The palace was destroyed during WW2 and then rebuilt and honestly was not terribly impressive, but we were shocked by the enormity of the property. Next we headed to Kyoto on the Shinkansen (high speed) train, which was amazing. Super clean, super fast. We reserved seats on the side of the train that faced Mt Fuji...and slept right through it. We arrived in Kyoto station in a few hours and took a city bus (SRO!) to our hotel and walked around. Next post will be from Kyoto!
